Symposium on the waqf in Paris
On Saturday and Sunday, 20 and 21 May 2017, a symposium was organized by the World Awqaf Forum (WAF) in partnership with the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) and the Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation (KAPF) on the subject: Role of Waqf in the establishment of socio-economic institutions in Europe. “

This session was an opportunity to discuss all aspects of the waqf and to have a global vision on it, both in terms of its historicity but also its usefulness and impact in civil and economic society, in Europe and in the world.
The conferences focused on the Waqf Institutions in Europe and the lessons to be learned, the contemporary dimension of waqf, its role in charity and charity for the benefit of mankind, but also on how to manage the Awqaf, The different sources of financing possible, the various guarantees: compliance with case law, controls and audit of funds ….
Then, each Waqf association presented its own experience (Australia, Algeria, Italy, Belgium, France, Turkey, Great Britain, Sweden, Kuwait, Russia ..). This exchange of expertise was very productive and very interesting.
This meeting revealed that waqf in Europe and throughout the world has a great importance and a decisive and necessary place for the future, through an old mode of financing but very modern and contextualized in our time.
